Declined updates are becoming unapproved again RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey All,

I've noticed something strange.  I've declined a lot of updates (drivers stuff etc...) in the SCE console.

After the weekly maintenance schedule, all these updates are unapproved again

Anybody has an idea what is happening or a resolution?

    thanks

    Cheers,

    Mike Resseler

  • Hi,

I was having the same issue and was becoming quite frustrated. I think it has been 'resolved' by disabling the Update cancelled or renewed subscriptions maintenance task. Since deselecting this task, my updates haven't reverted their approvals without my consent. Obviously, I'd rather that the task worked as expected, but am happy to not be re-rejecting over a thousand updates weekly.

    Hope that helps,

  • Hey Jonathan,

I already feared that that would be the solution.  I've implemented it now and will let you know by the end of the week if it solved my problem

    Thanks

    Cheers,

  • Hey Yog Li, and Jonathan,

The week is not yet ended ;-) but since the synchronization has run this morning, I can indeed confirm that this solution works.

This means that we have found a bug in the maintenance part of SCE 2010 which is a shame because I like the maintenance improvement in SCE 2010 over 2007.  Where can we file a bug report :-)

Anyway, Jonathan, thanks for the answer

    Cheers,

    Mike Resseler

  • I can't believe this is still an issue. I just noticed my SCE 2010 server doing this. I declined all the Itanium updates. Maintenance ran overnight, and when I came back, all the Itanium updates were back to Unapproved. To test it, I again declined the Itanium updates, ran the task and saw them put back as Unapproved. So thnaks much for at least posting the workaround.

  • Same problem here. Periodically, thousands of updates return to unapproved status (SCE 2010). I don't appear to have the "Update Cancelled" or "Renewed Subscriptions" maintenance tasks.  The closes thing I can see is the "Re-Index Updates DB" task.  Is this the same thing?
