Distribution Point Logs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to know how is the traffic sent by one of the distribution point to the workstation and what all is being transferred. Is there a log where we can check in the distribution poitn server or is it something we can check in the primary site itself in regards to just that distirbution. I am more interested to know more about traffic generated.

  • Hi,

Generally, I will check following 2logs on the client

     ContentTransferManager.log
Schedules the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) or the Server Message Block (SMB) to download or to access SMS packages.

    DataTransferService.log
Records all BITS communication for policy or package access.

  • Hi,

Activity between the DP and client is recorded in the client log files. You have the full list of log files here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb892800.aspx
