Actually, we have SCCM 2007. There are 1 central/primary.
2 DPs on Central Office and 1 DP on each remote office (200 DPs).
On each office, clients download packages from its local DP and second option from Central Office DPs. We use protected DPs.
We're thinking on remove the remote office DPs ant put Branch DP Windows 8.
We have some doubts:
1) Can I configure these DP Windows 8 protected??
2) If I configure remote DP protected and also central DPs, I think client will download packages from Central DPs not local DPs, because client can use BITS with central DP but not with local DP. These is a big problem.
A) My customer want to remove Windows Server and put Windows 8 (it is cheaper)
B) If a client has a local protected BDP and other unprotected DP with BITS. Which is the orden to download packages.. is this right??
B.1) SMB Local protected BDP
B.2) BITS Unprotected DP
B.3) SMB Unprotected DP
Ok, understand the BDP are meant for sites with less than 50 clients. If they already have servers at these site, I would try to use those servers.
BDP will use BITS to download content from a unprotected DP, CM07 clients at the BDP site will use SMB.
