Exchange Server CU23 OWA Blank Attachment Preview with Office Web Apps Server When integrated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Guys,

I have a Exchange Server CU23 with 10 CAS and 6 MBXs and i'm having the problem with OWA Blank Attachment Preview with Office Web Apps Server When integrated.

    I disabled all configurations, bellow:

But now is very stranger, because is occurring this situation bellow: (I isolated one CAS by my file hosts using a VM guest in the same network). How is possible?

So, how this is showing to me? There is a explanation about this?

I renewed a new internal certificate "Microsoft Exchange Server Auth Certificate" (AuthConfig), but not success.

The office online server on local is ok, lync server 2013, skype for business 2015 and sharepoint 2013 is working well with OOS 2016.

Only Exchange Server 2013 CU that is not.

No errors in application, system or ULS folder.

  • Hi EvandroMalmsteen,

Based on your description, I know your attachment preview is blank with Office Web Apps Server When integrated.

I suggest you to try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Log on the Web App Server
    2. Open IIS and going into IIS HTTP80
    3. Right click Edit Bindings
    4. Add another HTTPS site binding and add the external hostname to the binding. Use the same certificate.

Or you can refer to this similar issue Exchange Office Web Apps Preview Does not work in OWA (web)

  • the same problem...

When i configure to the OOS pool, the blank screen is back in Exchange Server 2013 CU23.

    The blank screen is back.

So, when disable the exchange servers of OOS pool, the service is back again.

    And make a recycle:

    $servers = 'MBX01','MBX02','MBX03','MBX04','MBX05','MBX06','CAS01','CAS02','CAS03','CAS04','CAS05','CAS06','CAS07','CAS08','CAS09','CAS10'
    Invoke-Command -ScriptBlock {
    Import-Module WebAdministration
    C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\Appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeOABAppPool"
    C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\Appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeOWAAppPool"
    C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\Appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeOWACalendarAppPool"
    C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\Appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeServicesAppPool"
    } -ComputerName $servers

The service is back working again.

So, There is any changes to the Exchange Server 2013 CU23 setup requirement with Office Online Serve in place?

  • Hi EvandroMalmsteen,

    According to this article, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/plan-and-deploy/install-office-online-server?view=exchserver-2019

If you have Exchange 2013 servers in your organization, don't configure an endpoint at the organization level.

  • I see. Make sense now.

Before it was not that way, some requirement has changed in these latest versions of Office Online Server on-premises and Exchange Server 2013 CU23.

On the Exchange Servers 2013 CU23, i don't have this option to configure an endpoint at the organization level:

    Thanks anyway man!

So, the exchange server CU22/23 do not support any more with Office Web Apps Server and Office Online Server.

I was using the Exchange Srv 2013 CU17 and work well so far with OOS 2013 and OWA Srv 2013.

    It's clear for me now.

    Thanks Beverly!

    See ya.
