and found interesting bits, but nothing that specifically applies.
We have a Server 2008 R2 host with virtuals - 2008 and 2008 R2. Backup is BackupAssist running nightly at 11:00, with a job for the whole host and virtuals. We *tried* running XP and Windows 7 virtuals on this host, but found that nightly the
virtual network connection would drop immediately after the backup routine, and then reconnect some minutes later. But backup was fine.
The server 2008 R2 virtual production server ran fine in this environment until we turned on shadow copies for one of the virtual data drives. Then it exhibited the same network disconnect during backup. The problem went away when shadow copies was
turned down again. BackupAssist suggests this is a Windows problem.
I submit this because our situation is not similar to other cases cited above - the virtual machines do not need to be restarted to recover, the virtual is not Server 2003, integration components are at 6.1.7601.17514 on host and client, and power config
was set to "high performance" during setup last year. Additionally the problem only occurs during backup, which is done at a very low traffic time.
