WindowsUpdate_80092004 KB4512506 and KB4512486 RRS feed

  • What is going on? I've tried both these updates on 3 different Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machines and all fail with WindowsUpdate_80092004.

    The link is from Windows Update Catalog.but 1st,Win 7 & server use different updates.Either way,with Win 7,download & run kb890830

    After,open control-panel/Defender/HELP/check for updates,run defender.Also,install .NET v4.8

After the above, download:  windowsupdateagent-7.6-x86  Also, make sure .NET  is checked in add/remove,windows services (L.sub menu)...

  • Tried to post a link to the fix but this thing won't let me. It's something to do with MS changing the signing of updates.

Edit: I tried it, worked ok. Basically just install the two KBs Teemo Tang mentioned. I already had the service stack update but the other took care of it. Some suggest disabling AV software too.

  • Hi David,

For Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine, you need to choose this 285.6 MB update from

2019-08 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4512506)

On Server 2008 R2, make sure KB4474419 has been installed, next, you need to add KB4490628 and then KB4512506 will be installed fine.

  • Yes I'm aware there are different downloads per each OS which I'm working with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. However after many updates I was successful in finally getting it installed. Thanks for the reply and the details.
