Group Policy setting NOT WORKING - Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Force a specific default lock screen image - Windows 10 Enterprise RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows 10 Enterprise - Group Policy setting NOT WORKING -

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Force a specific default lock screen image

The jpg file is located on a server folder that all users can access.  (No changes to this setting.) Installed 1903 on a new PC and put in the same OU as other systems that receive the GPO for lock screen.  The GPO applies fine to OS versions prior to 1903.  Have changed the jpg file and verified that the change applies to 1803/1809 systems correctly, but still won't apply to 1903.  have rebooted and tried gpupdate /force multiple times.  Have verified that the GPO is being applied to the computer.  Help is greatly appreciated.

  • Download and install Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 10 May 2019 Update (1903) from link below

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58495

Update your Enterprise 1903 clients to the latest build. Check again

Note, there are three conditions need to be meet:

1.GPO “Force a specific default lock screen and logon image”

2.GPO “Prevent changing lock screen and logon image”

    3.Registry entry DisableLogonBackgroundImage to 1

Interestingly I have found that if you set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\DisableLockScreenAppNotifications to "0" the custom lockscreen behaves exactly as intended.

    Regards
