Win XP - problem with windows update


  • Tried all the FixIts and tips I can find but no luck updating my PC.  Please help with ideas... other than reformat.

    Then tried FixIt and by hand sequence in:

    but error with 
    regsvr32.exe mshtml.dll 
    mshtml.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. 
    This file can not be registered. 

    LoadLibrary("wucltux.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found. 
    LoadLibrary("wuwebv.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found. 

    netsh reset winsock
    The following command was not found: reset winsock

  • Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 (Full Package).

  • Try downloading the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 installer from the following address

    (scroll to "Full Package" near the bottom of the page to donwload the full package installer rather than the web installer) and running it as Administrator; reboot your system after completing the installation.

  • Hi,

    To fix the probem of KB951847, we need to remove all versions of .NET Framework in the system and install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package) directly.

    After installing NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full Package), KB951847 is no longer needed and will not be offered.
