Error 1068: Remote Access Connection Manager service RRS feed

  • Question

  • First off I would like to apologise if this is in the wrong area of the forum. I have Windows 7 and ever since I got the laptop 18 months ago I was unable to shutdown properly as Windows refused to install updates. Then I got a Trojan or virus after sometime I managed to remove all traces of the Trojan but now I have many other problems. For a start Windows Security Centre Service will not turn on instead I am told the service can't be started. I have Started services and Telephony, but whenever I try to start Remote access connection manager I am told Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start. I really am at a loss as to what I can do and would appreciate any assisantance as I am a bit clueless with such matters. Please note doing a system restore really is not an option for me. thanks for any help offered.

  • Hi,

The following are the dependency services of “Remote Access Connection Manager”:

    1.Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service.

So make sure both the services are started.

Meanwhile,  regarding issue that the Security Center service cannot  be started, try the steps in the following KB to reconfigure the Security Center service and then restart the service.

Error message: “Security Center service can't be started”

And for the update issue. Here is a useful KB which you can refer to.

Unable to install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hope this helps,
