Wrong email address entered when setting up account for the first time unable to change it to correct email address

    Question

  • When a new computer is turned on and being set up for the first time,

When someone uses the wrong email address for there user account using windows 8

and the start screen is displayed under account settings.

you are unable to change it to correct email address, No option or location to do this.

This results in creating a new user account and then linking the correct address to the new user then

making that a admin account and deleting the incorrect user.

Is there anyway of changing the address with out creating a new user?

    * reason why all the apps and programs installed are deleted from the user with incorrect email address and they need to be reinstall abit of a pain and a long winded process!!*

  • Hi,

Based my research, we may not be able to achieve it. Create a new account and delete the wrong one may be the only way to fix this issue.

  • You can try to switch the account type to "local account" and then switch back to a Microsoft account with the right email address.
