I have an eMachine (64 bit) running Windows 7. For over a year I was able to get internet access then one day - poof! The infamous error 651 came up and I can't connect. Called ISP they said it was a problem with something in Windows 7 not liking
the modem for extended DSL (an encoding issue). At any rate they couldn't help and said to check the internet for fixes. Have tried all fixes I have found in forums and nothing works. I don't have Virtual PC and my device manager says no problems with
adaptors. Did a clean boot, not fixed. Have not installed any new programs.
Note: Running the computer without firewall or the anti-virus software is a potential threat to the computer; make sure to enable the security software after completing the troubleshooting
steps and after identifying the issue.
The issue could be related to many factors. There are many workaround from Internet for this error code since customer has different situation. Please check the following links and see if
