[BUG] Windows 7 RTM Taskbar items always highlighted RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I mouseover the taskbar entry, it gets highlighted. But the highlight does not fade out if i move the mouse out of the taskbar, or even to other parts of the taskbar (e.g. notification area).

Also, the popup tip with the entry title pops up and stays there forever. This was not the case with Beta, Beta2 or RC versions.

Can this be caused by an external program? Or, where do i submit the bugs for RTM?

Version: Windows 7 RTM x64 Professional EN
Hardware: Lenovo U330 notebook, latest drivers from Lenovo website
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Install Windows, drivers, etc.
    2. Hover the mouse over the taskbar (Do not click). Item gets highlighted
    3. Move the pointer out of the taskbar. Highlight stays here
    4. Get annoyed over time, confusing orange highlight on orange icons with 'flashing window' state

    Thanks in advance!

  • Shift-right clicking any taskbar item is supposed to fix the problem too (from here ).

  • Hi

Here are some things you can try.

    Try the Aero troubleshooter.

    Open Control Panel/Troubleshooting.
Under Appearance and Personalization, select the Display Aero desktop effects.

In the Troubleshooter dialog, click the Advanced link and place a check mark in the Apply Repairs Automatically option.

Click Next to run the troubleshooter.

If this does not fix the problems, I suggest posting this issue on the appropriate  Lenovo Community - Support Forums  and ask if any other users may be experiencing the same problems.

Let us know what you find.

Thank You for using Windows 7

  • Oddly, that happened to me in all the betas and RC, but never happened for me in the final version.  I never investigated further.
