Win 8 only shows two keys on logon screen - wont allow switch user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When I am on the Win 8 logon screen, it only displays two squares with large key images.  One appears to be to login with a Microsoft account, the other allows logon to the computer ONLY IF you know the user names.

Also, when I try to switch user, I get a message stating that only one user can be logged on to the computer at a time.

I suspect these two issues are related...

I would like my logon screen to display my local users (minus admin) and determine why I cannot switch users.

    Thank you for the help!

  • Would you mind to post back some screenshots about your issue?

In Control Panel , under user account, check your accounts

  • go to desktop alt f4 switch user. Everything works for me. I do not receive a error. I use a local account, if you are using a Microsoft account the situation will occur, its not an error or problem it is how the Microsoft account works for safety reasons. I can be login with multi users with local account. I do like that safety feature in windows 8 Microsoft account. Only one login at a time. Prevents hacker login with a admin account

  • Hi,

Did this issue occurs before? Did your PC in a domain or homegroup?

Try to perform a system restore for test.

I suspect GPO may affect this, please Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon,

Hide entry points for fast user switching is not configured.

  • I just confirmed that that this setting is "Not Configured".  Could this be a VLSC version issue?
