  •  I did this, but it didn't help.   What DID help was turning off the hardware acceleration on my graphics card.   Now I am able to play videos with Media Player and Real Player, but still not with Windows Media Center.

  • I have the same problem.

    Whenever I play MP4 I recieve this error just before a BSOD;

    My graphics card is nVidia 8800gts 640mb. I tried:
    • Updating my videocard drivers using Windows Update. According to nVidia, the driver is called "Windows 7 Supercharge".
    • Updating my videocard to nVidia Vista 32bit 181.22.
    • To turn off all sound enhancements
    • Disable hardware acceleration.
    All did not work. There is a MP4 decoder found here, but I have no knowledge about this so until someone post the steps or fixes this, I am going to use other media players.
