Windows 7 Rearranges Desktop Icons on Every Reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installing Windows 7, arrange approximately 70 icons on desktop, after reboot they are all moved to columns on left of screen. Not using auto-arrange icons or align icons to grid. Appears to be related to having 2 monitors configured in the device list although I do not have two monitors. Tried disbaling one of then, still same problem.

  • I gave a full answer in this thread.

but essentially you can set it so that when the icons auto jumble you can make them jump right back to the way you had them instantly with an app that saves the icons position and lets you restore it anytime you want.

The two I've used are Restore Desktop for single monitor and UltraMon for multi-monitor setups.

    Cheers!
