If a collection has a software update applied to it, do new servers added to the collection automatically get the update? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm new to SCCM and am working on OS updates across our estate. I've setup a collection and used a Software Update Group to deploy Windows updates to the collection. I've set the deployment updates to be available immediately and the deadline passed a couple of days ago. If I add a new server to this collection, will the deployment automatically apply to my server?

    We're using SCCM 1706.

    Thanks

This version hasn't been supported in almost 18 months; you really need to upgrade ASAP.

Also deadlines mark when the deployment becomes mandatory, not necessarily when the deployment is or will be enforced as other things (namely maintenance windows) may dictate the actual time of enforcement. Thus, having a past deadline for a deployment when the client first receives the policy for the deployment simply means that the deployment is mandatory immediately for that client.
