I just installed Insider "Fast" build. And windows tried to boot on Drive:G? (My windows is on C:) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey

I just installed Insider preview (Fast). The system works, but after the first install and reboot, windows tried to boot on G:/Windows?

There is no such dir on my G drive. And I installed it on C.

Is this a bug? Or do I need to clean my boot?

  • Hi Jonas,

After booting of Windows, its boot drive must be C.

I'd like to confirm or to know:
      1) do you have a dual- (or multi-) boot machine, or install W10 Insider Preview on a virtual machine?
      2) please provide a view of Disk Management

  • If there are any external drive connected to the computer, disconnect them.

    1. Start the system to the installation media for the installed version of Windows.
Note For more information, see Create installation media for Windows.

    2. On the Install Windows screen, select Next > Repair your computer.

    3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select Next > Command Prompt.

    4. After Startup Repair, select Shutdown, then turn on your PC to see if Windows can boot properly.
