How to take backup of Windows Defender updates? RRS feed

  • I am currently using Windows Defender which i update daily.If i re-install Windows 8 then i have to update Windows Defender from zero. Can i take backup of those updates of Windows defender so that i can use it on newly installed OS?

  • You only need the latest update. You don't need 30 days worth of Defender updates if you re-install Win8 after, say, thirty days. They are just anti-malware definitions; they're not like updates to the program itself, like a patch or fix.

    No, and there is no need to in the first place. The updates are cumulative.
    If you reinstall the OS, the first Windows Defender update will get you
    right back to where you are currently.
