SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT Message ID: 7403 Reporting service not running RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there, I configured a reporting service back in June of 2019 and now that I need to run a report the service has disappeared. If I go to services I can't find SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT

If I go to the reporting manager and try to go to the reporting services weblink I get a 503 error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • That's because it's not a Windows service. SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT is a thread that runs inside of the SMS_EXECUTIVE service. The reporting point role sits on top of SSRS which uses a Windows service called "SQL Server Reporting Services". You should definitely check out this service.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting in TechNet.

1> Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager and check that if the Report Service is running. If it is stopped, start it; If it is started, try stop it and start it again, then check the results.

2> If above method doesn't work, try to change the Virtual Directory and TCP Port of Web Service URL and Report Manager URL, apply them and then check the results.

3> If it still doesn't work, I believe that we need to get more professional advice from SSRS forum as we are not experts of SSRS.

  • Seems like your SSRS Database could have possibly corrupted if you get this on both web links.
Check the logs of the Reporting Services Point to ensure that it did complete the install.
If thats the case check the Configuration Manager Services Console and check if the SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT thread is showing as stopped or started.
