  • Hi munkis,

I don't have Maxter 3200. So, googled and found a drive provided.
    https://www.driverscape.com/download/maxtor-3200-usb-device

I hope you can download the driver for Maxter 3200 and it will solve the issue.
    ** This is not a genuine Maxter/Seagate site **

  • All that gave me was a third-party driver updater utility.  The other links were for unrelated accessories.

  • Hi

When you get this error with USB devices it’s because one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

More details you could refer to the following Microsoft link:

  • Sorry it took me so long to get back.  My computer still won't see the hard drive.  Having a hard time trying to find a manual download for the drivers that actually gives me the drivers I'm looking for instead of a sketchy-looking driver update utility or drivers that I'm not even looking for.

  • Hi munkis,

    1) Are you using the AC adapter for Maxtor 3200?
    2) Have you connected your Mastor 3200 to other computers, and checked how they work?

  • Hi munkis,

Please check if some conflicts/duplicates are with your Mastor 3200 in Device Manager.
I guess IO address is duplicated with it. If so, change it to unused address.

  • Yes I am using the AC adapter.  I also plugged it into my win98 pc, and it detects it, but I don't have the drivers for it >_>

  • Hi munkis,

It is confirmed that the Maxtor 3200 does not have any faults.
So, the issue causes from USB (hardware or software).

    1) Did you connect the Maxtor 3200 to other USB ports? (hardware check)
    2) Did you see how USB controllers work in Device Manager? (software check)
[Windows] key + [R] > type "devmgmt.msc"(without quotes) and [Enter]
       > Universal Serial Bus controllers

    3) Did you see how Disk drives work in Device Manager.

I hope you will provide what you checked and the results.

    Regards,
