Windows 7 HP probook won't boot up.

    Question

  • I was having problems with my HP probook with windows 7 and did a factory reset restart.  However, during the "setup is starting services I continually get the fault  0xc000000f. the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.  No disc came with my laptop.  Request to know what I can do to get my laptop to boot up.

  • With laptops, always try without the battery.

In a tropical/sub tropical climate, reseating the RAM modules can often help.

Short of those two basic steps failing, call HP support if your laptop is in warranty (usually 3 years, except 1 year on the battery).

HP will ask you to do a hardware diagnostics, accessible during the early boot process, usually via the Boot Menu, so you might as well run that before calling them.
