  • hi 

    i am using an asus machine with intel 3rd generation dual core processor. i have installed windows 8 on it.  it has a hard disk of 500gb with 6 gb ram on it. i would like to install windows server 2008 r2 edition on it, with windows 8. so can i do that? if yes how can i do that..

  • Yes it is very easy as what you can do is you can install windows server on another partition(this is very important). Then all you have to do is after installing it should automatically make a dual boot or you can use easy bcd to add windows 8 in the dual boot list.

  • You can use http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/wim2vhd to convert the WIM of the Server 2008 R2 into a VHD and use the native VHD boot feature:

    Win7 and Win8 use NTFS. This is the file system. GPT is a partition type (GUID Partition Table)

    Server 2008 R2 also supports GPT.
