The link give you all possible issue http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us for temp profile.
1- Check this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList registry key
- in right pane any profile had .bak if there ok
1- u can delet .bak this will fix the profile ( if u need the profile data )
2- u can backup the profile from C:\Users then delet it forProfileListregistry key and try login again
delet unwanted profile and temp profile fromProfileList registry key

Hi Hafeez_Ur_Rehman,
The method works. But U need to get the affected user to log in first, then switch user and log in as Administrator to remove the registry key. After that, switch back to the affect user and do a reboot.

Make sure you delete the corresponding user folders in the %SystemDrive%\Users folder.
I know how to fix this, I just can't seem to find any pertinent information on why it's happening and how to make it stop. Every shared computer we have seems to randomly create duplicate profiles for some (not all) users and not all of the time.
Good luck!

I disagree. sure the method should work but this is not always the case. For example, I have one user on a domain laptop who cannot log in with his current profile. everytime he logs into this one laptop, it sets him up with a temporary profile. I have deleted the associated profile registry keys but to no avail, it keeps logging him in with a temp profile every time. He can log onto other domain PC's with no problem and other users can logon to this same laptop with no problems. Again, the method "should work" but this is not always the case
BTW, I am still trying to find a solution for this one profile on this one laptop. (rebuilding the laptop is a possible option but other users have no problem and recreating the users domain profile is also not needed since he can log onto other PC's just fine)

Unable to find the .bak file under the location(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList).
Everytime temp profile is loading.
Please help

bump.
we too had the same problem but because we're a bit flexible, we created a new domain account for the user and it fixed the temporary profile problem using that new domain account.
it'd be better if a real solution could be provided (or what's causing this problem).

Hi
I have faced with the same issue. And manipulation with "ProfileList" / "ProfileGuid" did not help. However I have solved this annoying issue by the not regular and simple way. Try temporary provide "Domain Admins" rights for the problem user. Then logoff (from temp)/logon (to regular). :)

Its happening to one user, on ANY machine he logs into. I have never seen it before?
Has anyone?

Thanks Abdul,
This really worked for me. I have removed that entry from my server registry for the affected user and it was working from next login time.

I know this is 6 years too late but navigate to System Properties --> Advanced System Settings --> User Profile Settings --> and delete the users corrupt profile in order to have the domain create a new profile on the device.
