Tracert RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried to run tracert and ping from my command line.  I keep getting the following messaging for both;

    'tracert' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have looked in;
    System Properties; Advanced; Environmental Variables;
    Located path, which is currently
    C:\program.files(x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_25\
    what do I need to change?  OP system is Windows 8.

    Please be aware that I am a IT student, so am using Processing and JAVA on my laptop (not is sure if this has anything to do with it)?

Answers

  • Goto c:\windows\system32

    And find 'TRACERT.EXE' file.

    If it runs from that location, then your PATH environment variable is possibly incorrectly set.

    Else, copy the exe from other system to your system.
