Issues with VPN since update to 8.1 - Device not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

Since update to 8.1 I can not connect to a VPN. I have been troubleshooting it following various article but it just does not work.

In the Change Adapter settings - where the VPN connection is displayed - it says Device missing. It does not allow me to click on properties and change / set up the connection.

I tried to activate various services as per article I found - but a service which I believe is necessary does not start - Remote Access connection and the Socket Tunnelling...

Is there anything I can try before having to repair the system which would take away all my programs

    Thanks

    Massi

  • I wonder if you have an issue with your TAP adapters. Open Device Manager and select Show Hidden Devices from the View menu. Look for any network adapters that are in an error state (exclamation mark) and remove them. If none are in an error state, you may wish to remove any adapters listed as TAP adapters or Miniport. Restart the computer and attempt to connect to VPN, this should recreate the required adapters.

  • Hi,

According to your description, it seems like there is a problem with the VPN connection settings. How about recreate a new VPN for test?

On the other hand, please also try to reinstall NIC driver for test.

  • Hi,

To reinstall NIC driver, firstly, you can open Programs and Features to unisntall the driver, then access to the PC official website to download and install the driver.

On the other hand, you can open Device Manager, then choose the NIC driver to uninstall after that, reboot the PC and Windows would reinstall the driver automatically.
