  • From the log file: "The source directory doesn't exist or the 'Configuration Manager' service cannot access it, Win32 last error = 5"

Thus, "something" is preventing access to the folder in question. This is outside the scope of control or visibility of ConfigMgr though. This could be permissions, anti-virus, actual malware, or something else locking the files or folder. There are other possibilities as well. Using procmon or a similar tool may help you to discover what is causing the folder and files to be inaccessible.

  • Hi,

Based on your description of the problem you are currently facing, this is usually due to insufficient permissions, etc., so I agree with Jason. Please try using Process Monitor for further troubleshooting.

Please refer to the following article for more information on how to download and use it:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

  • This has nothing to do with content or cleanup. As the error indicates, there is an issue with this WSUS instance connecting to the DB.

  • Have you groomed the WSUS update catalog by declining unnecessary and superseded updates in WSUS (manually or using a script)? Have you ensured that you have no products selected in your WSUS/SUP configuration that are unnecessary or unsupported for deployment by ConfigMgr (like any and all drivers -- except Surface drivers)?

  • Hi,

Since ConfigMgr always uses the local system account to run services and perform site activities, please refer to the post below to perform a check to see if the system account have enough read permission, simply use sysinternal tools and access the share if that works or not.
