[solved] Cannot import to registry.. "Not all data was successfully written to the registry. some keys are open by the system or other process, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation" RRS feed

     As the error message indicates this is due to lack of permission or the registry value is in used.. Sometimes even running in safemode/ run as administrator won't fix this... 

    using sysinternals pstools we can successfully solve this..

    Delete service with Service manager (http://tools.sysprogs.org/srvman/) cannot delete manually - insufficient permission, not allow to change !!!

    As example here is key for HomeGroup_Listener

    That is first solution, If you cannot delete service (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services)

    Use same other tools and take own !!! (As Registrar Registry Manager or similar !)

    I have same problem with user that joined to domain because they need to take insufficient privileges to perform can any tell how they o give them privileges ASAP
