Win 7 Hangs at Shutdown

  • Two issues:
Win7 Pro hangs at the shutdown screen. It will never power off--I have let it run all night. I never experienced this in the several months I ran the RC on this hardware. All drivers have been updated (Intel Chipset, ATI video, onboard sound etc). I thought the problem was related to the unit going into hibernation/sleep but disabling that function does not solve the problem. There are no unusual background processes running and the anti-virus is Microsoft's own Security Essentials.
When IE 8 is closed I always get the message the IE8 has stopped working when in fact it has not: I can cancel the shutdown and continue working in IE8 with no problems.
Perhaps these two issues are related?
