  • Hi

how to in place upgrade windows 2000 to windows 2012 >>> You can't,domain functional level needs to least 2003,

if you plan to upgrade to server 2012 to a DOmain Controller.Recommendation is migrate it,do not inplace upgrade,

Check the article for migrate 2003 to 2012

Not possible. There is no direct way to upgrade 2000 to 2012. There are so much differences between these two operating system. One thing you can do is to add a Windows Server 2003 (can be a temporary VM) and raise the domain and forest functional levels, move all the roles to new 2003 server and once everything is fine, dump the old 2000 server. Now you have the ability to introduce your 2012 server to your 2003 domain. Repeat this step and once everything is smooth and OK, dump the old 2003.
