User Profile Disks: Disk has the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we have a Windows Server 2016 RDS session-based server with User Profile Disks enabled. If there is at least one user logged in, for every other user that connects to the server, a warning is added to the Event logs: "Disk <x> the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system". Aside from that, all seems to work fine, so should I be worried about these warnings?

  • Hi,

If RDS works with no problem, warning message can be ignored.

However, you can reference below suggestion and try to resolve the warning.

Event ID: 158 is logged for identical disk GUIDs:

  • Hi Eve

I logged a TechNet forum post here..

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/a550b6be-8b9f-4453-9794-2940d1315972/user-profile-disks-same-disk-identifiers?forum=winserverTS#b6d2e208-2945-4e75-80ac-b7ed0f555c33

You say if users aren't experiencing problems this message can be ignored. What are you basing that on?

I'm trying to work out despite diskpart showing different IDs for user profile disks, event 158 is still generated?

Server 2019 fully patched as of 09/09/19
