Can't get off Insider Build 17639.rs_prerelease.180330-1630 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been trying for a few days to get off the insider builds and all attempts fail. The problem is that now there's a nag window telling me my current build is expired every so often.

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations Insider Preview

    Build 17639.rs_prerelease.180330-1630

    Things i've tried:

    1.  "Stop Insider Preview Builds" -> Roll me back to last windows release -> Window Crashes (Event log below)

    2.  Change mode to "Skip Ahead to next Windows Release" and "Fast" -> Check for updates -> Download and install "Windows 10 Insider Preview 10.0.17692.1004 (RS_PRERELEASE_FLT)" -> Reboot -> Update Fails around 50%, green screen, backs out. I can try again and capture the error message if someone thinks that will help.

  • There was some option that said i would stop receiving insider builds after the next update.  I got 1809 and now it no longer says insider builds.

  • The good news is that I was able to go around this bug and install the latest release:

    17713.1000 rs5_release

In this release, the "Stop Insider Builds" screen no longer crashes immediately.  I am able to successfully click "Stop insider builds", and then choose "Take me back to the last public release of Windows.".  The wizard asks some questions, and then says "we will now roll you back to YOUR previous version of windows".  The wording here is different than the previous wordings of "Stop Insider Builds" and "The Last public release of Windows".

To my dismay, this process rolls me back to my completely broken build:

    17639.rs_prerelease.180330-1630

I am now in the process of "Upgrading" to "17713.1000 rs5_release" again, and will try to find some other route to stopping insider builds.
