Windows Updates failing after upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I upgraded a Vista Business 32bit PC to Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit  and noticed that windows updates were failing. I narrowed it down to three which I installed individually successfully.

    These were:

    KB976972
    KB977074
    KB979538

Please could you check these updates and resolve, a quick search on the internet reveals a lot of people are having these problems.

  • Most users can install the updates properly. The issue in your system should be caused by some other reasons.

I suggest you temporary disable or remove the antivirus and check the result. If the issue still occurs, please let us know if you have a Windows Server Update Services in your network.

  • Hi,

to see the cause of failures with Windows Vista or Windows 7 updates, we must look for error messages in the file CBS.log.

Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy the file "CBS.log" to your document folder (otherwise you can't upload it) and upload the complete CBS.log to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here.
