Side-by-Side error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I make a small application on Windows 7 with Visual Studio 2008. With Win7 Beta I had no problems, but after upgrading (new clean install) to Win7 RC, the debug version of my application doesn't start anymore. The release version has no problems.
When I try to start the debug version the following error is shown (I get it in german, but I this is more or less the translation): "Application failed to start becasue side-by-side configuration is incorrect".
I know this error, when someone trys the application and some libs (MFC) are not installed. But I never got this error on my development machine.

    Thanks,

Answers

  • Hello,

    I found the problem:
In Win7 Beta I had VS2005 and VS2008 installed. Now I only use VS2008. The application was originally built with VS2005. In the eventlog I always saw an error, that a specific VS2005 lib was missing, but a rebuilt with VS2008 did not help. Today I deleted the whole debug directory and did a new build and now it works.
