Receive Error message with Windows 7 x64: Print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working.

    Question

  • When closing out MS Powerpoint, a user receive an error message "Print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working."   The user is able to print but constantly receives error message.  The computer has Windows 7 x64 bit with two HP printer connected.  One printer is connect via the network and the other is connected via USB.  I loaded the printer Windows 7 driver for the network printer.  The USB printer driver came preinstalled with Windows 7.  I have reinstalled the x64 bit drivers and the 32bit drivers and had no luck.  Please assist.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I would like to suggest you perform the following troubleshooting suggestions:

    1.    Uninstall the printers and only install one of them to check if it is a printer driver confliction issue.

    2.    Test the issue in Clean Boot to check if this is a software confliction issue.

    3.    If both tests cannot work, please refer to the following link and perform the troubleshooting steps manually.

  • After working pretty flawlessly for many months, my 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise system has started randomly throwing out these errors. I use Acronis True Image and rolled by PC back to an earlier image and same problem. Wil try removing printer drivers.

  • And a minute or so later, the VMware print proxy stopped as well. That could be a knock on effect of the main Windows 7 print server stopping.

    Cheers, Rob.
