Installing Java Runtime on Vista (Home Premium)

    Question

  • Well, everytime if I am gonna try to install the Java Runtime Envrmt. (JRE 6 , but i have also tryed 5 SP11), Vista "restarts" while installing the JRE.

After several attemps to install a java runtime (my Vista restarted every time during (not at the end of) installation) I endet up with an uncomplete JRE installation and I am unable to remove it or to reinstall it anymore.

Anyone can tell me how to:

    1. remove jre-6-windows-i586 from my software panel (no remove button shown)

    2. how to install a working java runtime in my vista (hardware = HP Pavillon)

  • Hi,

1st solution is to use a 3rd party software to show hidden installations of software.

2nd, when you try to setup JRE, run it as Administrator and close all IE windows.

    Good luck

  • Thanks for the reply.

meanwhile I managed a rollback of my vista system.

then I reinstalled - reboot again. (maybe there where some IE windows open?)

then I ran the install again - and now JRE wokrs fine...

    strange, isnt it? :)
