Mice and other devices missing in Device Manager (windows 7 64 bit) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a windows 7 desktop and for some odd reason my usb mouse stopped working. I tried this same mouse in a windows 7 laptop and it works fine. I've also tried another mouse in the desktop and that one is not working either. I dont think there is anything wrong with the mouse or the usb ports since I am able to connect my external hard drive in my usb ports. I checked my Device Manager and I dont have 'Mice and other pointing devices'. I've tried the solutions by Mr. Zhang in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/00b0a0db-a1fe-4006-b943-d30d14403de5/ and no luck whatsoever. Please help. Thank you.

  • Umm... I read the link . Since your USB port is running fine and you are able to connect USB HD , i am not sure whether replacing usbstor.sys may be the solution for your case .

Could you please try replacing hidusb.sys , hidclass.sys and mouhid.sys from your windows 7 laptop to your desktop?

Did this issue come after installing some software / update ?
