Install fonts via group policy

    Question

  • I want to install a font with a GPP (to Win7 Pro and XP Pro).

I've setup the group policy to copy the .ttf to c:\windows\system32\fonts.

On the XP machine, the file get's copied, but the non-admin users can't see it in Word (they can see the font file in Explorer). When I log in as the local admin however, I can see the font in Word. On the Win7 machine, the font file doesn't appear in the fonts folder and isn't visible in Word for non-admin or admin users.

What gives or what is the correct way to install fonts with group policy?

    Thanks.

  • Can you move this thread to the Group Policy forum or am I better off re-posting?

Please note that I do not want to grant users rights to install fonts. I want to install the font from the GPO.

  • Hi,

It is better to post a new thread in Group Policy forum, this would involve some engineers to deal with your issue.
