How to check the computers that require a critical update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am Looking at a specific Software update that says 17 computers require the critical update, but only 1 has installed it. It shows it has been downloaded and deployed and was released on the 8th of October. I am struggling how to find the list of 17 computers this update says it needs to be installed on. I want to find those computers and determine why they have not installed the update.

  • The Compliance 2 - Specific software update report (under Software Updates - A Compliance) will give you this list of systems. The reports under Software Updates - C Deployment States may help you troubleshoot as well.

  • Check wuahandler.log on the systems. A very common root cause is having a group policy overriding the WSUS configuration on managed systems.

  • What I have found in the handful of pcs I checked is that they actually have the critical security update installed, however sccm does not report it as installed yet.

  • Have those systems rebooted? The majority of updates require a reboot and won't be reported as compliant until the system is restarted.

  • They had been rebooted a few times and did not show up. I just checked this morning and now those PC's are showing up. Now have to check the remaining 295 pcs that show as not having the update :).
