Windows unable to detect proxy server

  • After removing Win 7 security virus, I am unable to connect to internet. The troubleshooter says "unable to detect proxy server". I have done the following steps:

    disable/enable adapter, update drivers, reset winsock, install ipv4 int, updated internet explorer, reset internet explorer.  I need more ideas because I've run out of the ones I found on the internet. I noticed that when I pull up properties on my adapter (Atheros 9285) I can see the properties for ipv6 but not ipv4.  I wonder that has anything to do with it.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • hello,

    looks like your need to reinstall ipv4 protocol;

    1. open your network connection properties.

    2. click install.

    3. choose protocol

    4. click add

    5. click "have disk"

    6. browse to "c:\windows\inf"

    7. click open.

    8. select tcp/ip v4

    9. click ok

    hope it helps!
