Tear Off ----------PLEASE----------HOW DO I TURN THIS OFF, OFF, OFF,OFF! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Let me say, the new IE9 is so much faster than the previous versions, it's the only one to use now.

That said, NO feature should be decided 'for me.' I should be able to turn on/off any feature the browser has.

    In this case,  I A B S O L U T E L Y                HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE

...Tear Away, Tear Off, Tear my hair out!

I'm sure you don't want to hear my reasons why...

HOW DO I TURN 'TEAR OFF' OFF????  PLEASE - Because of this feature SINGULARLY, I'm now forced to use Firefox.  Which is equal, if not faster anyways.  Get a MS Partner back...HOW DO I TURN IT OFF????

    Can you tell I'm frustrated?

  • Drag and drop tabs cannot be disabled in IE9.

  • Some people don't do tabbed-browsing.  And of those who do, some don't know they can be rearranged by dragging them.  Since IE7.

Those who do know are doubtlessly aware that IE9 sports a tear-away-tab feature that can interfere with rearranging them.

    We are among the enlightened.

Hey, that's sorta neat. I rarely have more than a half dozen tabs open at once, and I don't re-arrange them, so I never noticed.

No obvious way to turn the feature off. I see that torn-off window can be converted back to a tab, so it could be worse.

My own peeve: I'd like MS to make the sensitive area for closing a tab a bit smaller. In IE9, I'm always accidentally closing a tab when I try to switch to it.

  • It is possible to remove all add-ons and toolbars, but you should only do that if your browsing experience is extremely slow. In that case, IE9 will actually tell you to turn off add-ons. Turn them off and you'll be fine.

    :D
