Windows Media Center Will Not Open

    Question

  • I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and I tried to open Windows Media Center but everytime I do, a small box pops up on the screen and says, "windows media center cannot open".

    Also, check the services dependent on Windows Media Center are started.

    1. Click on Start, type services.msc, and press enter.

    2. Make sure that Windows Media Center Receiver and Scheduler services are started.

  • Hi ,

    You can try these steps to restore your Windows Media Center.

    1)Perform SFC first. Follow the link on how to do SFC(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833)

    2)Turn ON/OFF Windows Media Player again.

    a. Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".

    b. Click on the "Turn Windows features On or Off".

    c. Check mark the "Media Features".

    d. Restart the Computer.
