  • to see the cause we must look for error messages in the file CBS.log.

Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy all files to your document folder, also copy the setupapi logs from the folder C:\Windows\Inf and the file "C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log" to your document folder (otherwise you can't upload it), zip all files into 1 ZIP and upload the zip to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here.

  • Hi,

Try to check the log as Andre said, as a reference, you could check the following link:

  • Andre,

I am having a similar issue.  I try to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) and receive the following message: "Error: ERROR_NOT_FOUND(0x80070490)"

I am following the advice you gave Alex and have created a rar file of the files you requested ("C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" , setupapi logsfrom the folder C:\Windows\Inf and the file "C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log"). The files can be found in the SkyDrive at the following link:

Thank you for any help you maybe able to provide in advance.  Hope to hear from you soon.

  • I have same problem. After I changed my default browser from firefox to IE, the problem goes away. May be security issues.

  • Andre,

I zipped these files together but when I attempted to upload the zip to I got Page Not Found. Do I need my own skydrive? How do I get one?

  • I had the same problems installing SP1.  First time I tried I wound up with a dead keyboard and could not get it to work even in Safe Mode.  After rebooting from my distro CD I got my keyboard back and downloaded KB976932 64 bit and stored it in a temporary folder.  I then rebooted and went into Safe Mode with networking.  Once there I opened Windows Explorer and went to my temp folder.  I opened it and right clicked on the file using Administrator privileges.  It took about an hour but finally it got installed.  I rebooted and it came up with no problems.  At one time I thought about remounting Windows but that would be a lot of work remounting all the programs I needed.  So there you go...using Safe Mode eliminates any malware or antispyware from  activating during boot up.
