Change label of SUBST virtual drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I've created a virtual drive on my Windows XP SP2 machine with the following command:

    'subst P: C:\Users\Nick\Projects'

However, the resulting P: drive retains the label from C:, "Local Disk."  I'd prefer that the label be "Projects."

When I try to rename the drive in Windows Explorer, nothing happens, and when I use the 'label' command from the command line, I get an "Access denied" error.

Is there a way to control the label on a virtual drive?

    Thanks,
    Nick Meyer
