Running 7 Ultimate with all updates installed on Dell laptop Inspiron 6400, intell 2.0 duo core processor, 2 GB ram. Ultimate 7 has generally been working well, but on occasion, and with no consistent set of circumstances, the icons in the taskbar either disappear altogether or sometimes they show but when I click on them I get an error message that "the item has been moved or deleted" of similar wording. Anyone have similar problem or possible solutions?
I don't know if this will work on Windows 7, but here is the way to fix it in Windows Vista:
This sounds like a video driver issue. The latest video drivers for your particular Dell are for Windows Vista but they may work if you install them in compatibility mode.

This link works for Win7 HP. The icons kept switching so I had the Firefox icon opening IE. I used the suggested Windows Three-finger salute, whacked explorer.exe under processes, the under file started explorer back up. Problem solved. And, no it is not a driver problem. It's happened to me on five different PCs, one fresh out of the box, all with different GPUs. It's obviously a Windows feature.
