Apply high contrast theme to normal desktop. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

Does anyone know of a method to apply a high contrast theme to Windows 8.1 without forcing the shell to be in a/the high contrast mode? I have a high contrast theme I would like to apply to Windows WITH a full color desktop background. I would rather change values in the registry than use software to enable themes that have qualities I want.

  • Hi,

High Contrast Themes - Themes that use a small palette of contrasting colors to make items on your screen easier to see and improves readability. The High Contrast themes don't include automatic window border colors or desktop background slide shows. These themes are saved in the folder below.

    C:\Windows\Resources\Ease of Access Themes

Meanwhile, your current theme is referenced as the CurrentTheme string value for the key below in Registry Editor.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes

So I consider that you may try to modify.

    Regards,
