ActiveSync 4.5 for windows 7

    General discussion

  • There is a compatibility problem to install setup.exe with ActiveSync on my Asus Notebook. A connection by PC and PDA with Windows mobile platform should be running. These PC goes on by Windows Vista and Windows 7 on different partition. To perform setup.exe a window is shown with error message “no compatibility”. It’s the same with Windows 7 compatibility mode. What have I to do to avoid this problem?

  • ActiveSync is not compatible with Windows 7.

Windows Mobile Device Center is the feature to use in Windows 7.
This should install automatically when you first attach your mobile device to Windows 7.

  • You cannot use ActiveSync 4.5 because it is not compatible with Windows 7: starting from Windows Vista, you have to download and install Windows Mobile Device Center.
Go to to the following addresses

  • I have been experiencing the same problem since July 1st.  Activesync was working fine on Windows 7 and then stopped syncing.  I uninstalled and now can't re-install.  After reading this string, it seems like I need to download Windows Vista to get the Windows Mobile Device Center and then I can re-install the Activesync 4.5.  Does that mean I have to purchase both Window Vista, and then Windows 7 again?  I'm trying to figure out the sequence and also I don't want to loose anything I have on Windows 7 that might not be available on Windows Vista.  Any recommendations?  Thank You!
