Windows 7 Internal Program for .ZIP files shows that ZIP is empty RRS feed

  • Question

  • Certain .ZIP files downloaded from the internet are empty when opened with Windows 7's internal zip program(i.e., Windows explorer).

But the same .ZIP file opens up with the file within when opened using winzip or winrar programs.

This is the case only for certain file types when zipped. I am having problem when the zip file contains .dwf file.

While i am able to see the other file types in the zip file, the dwf file doesn't show up.

Any ideas how to fix this.

  • Hi Srinithya,

there is no way how to fix this as windows zip only support .zip files, unlike winrar, 7-zip etc. that support multiple forms of compressed files so would recommend downloading one of those my personal favorite is 7-zip

    Hope this Helps,

    Gavin
