Windows 7 shutting down

    Question

  • I am running a Compaq HP 8000f elite and the computer is shutting down constantly at 7:07 pm every evening. When I look at the event viewer the message is:

The Process C:|Windows\System32\Winlogon.exe(computer name) has initiated the power off of computer (computer name) on behalf of user NT Authority \ System for the following reason: No Title for this reason could be found.

I have checked scheduled task and I have it set to reboot every night at 10:50, but it never gets to that point before shutting itself off.

  • It looks like the administrative account has placed that shutdown-command. Did you install the OS yourself? If not, how did you get the computer? From what shop, or other kind of dealer? Try contacting them, if that's the case - you might need to log in as the administrator, or give them access through Remote Desktop. Maybe. I greatly prefer using computers where I installed the OS in person, I have no idea how this would work in practice.

  • Hi,

I agree with Arve, this may be caused by the administrator preform shutdown-command or the 3rd party applications affect.

Please check the applications on the computer or try Clean Boot.

  • The OS is from an image that was created.

We do have a scheduled task for shut down, but this is happening much sooner than the scheduled task.
