RSAT & Windows 10 Upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a 'Windows 7 Professional' computer with a number of 'Remote Server Administration Tools' installed/enabled.

Will these installed/enabled tools be preserved if I perform an in-place upgrade to 'Windows 10 Enterprise (Version 1809)'?

    Kind regards,

    Glen

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your question.

Sorry. I can't assure you that the update system won't affect your rsat tools.

The security way is to create the system restore point to avoid the unexpected problems.

Also, it is easy to install RSAT tools by powershell.

    Get-WindowsCapability -Name RSAT* -Online

  • Definitely. Windows 10 has its own RSAT tools. It does not even upgrade between versions of Windows 10. Also remove anything else which won't run under Windows 10.

Keep it as simple as possible if you really want to upgrade. I would simply clean install Windows 10.

  • Hi,

Would it be better to uninstall the RSAT from 'Windows 7' before doing the in-place upgrade to 'Windows 10'?

    Kind regards,

    Glen
