Windows 10 Updates and GPO - updates are not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have updated our GPO with the Windows 10 templates, but the Windows 10 computers and any Surface computers we have, do not automatically download and update the OS. What is the setting in GPO that we need to make it all automatic? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

  • Hello

As far as I know, if computer is set to WSUS to update, then under the registry key:

    HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

    we should see following values:

If Automatic Updates policy is applied, then under HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU, we could see following values

For this issue, I suggest you we first check the below setting under group policy:

Computer(User) Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update\Specify intranet Microsoft update service location

  • Is there a way to do this to bypass WSUS? I thought Windows 10 could just get the updates from MS directly. Given how we have unlimited bandwidth now, I don't think WSUS is required anymore. And it's just one less system to worry about anyways.
